New Path Receives Funding

New Path Receives Funding to Support our Healthcare Heroes in a Post-Pandemic World

Thanks to $43,624 in funding through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, New Path Youth and Family Services (New Path) is surveying its staff and providing additional training to strengthen engagement, enhance meaningful connections, and support resilience in a post-pandemic world.

“COVID-19 amplified work-related stress and health-related issues,” says Tara Powers, New Path’s Manager of Human Resources, and Project Lead. “Receiving this funding means that we can continue to support the wellness of our staff who are dedicated to finding new ways of connecting with clients, and with each other, and to address the rising demand for mental health services in our local community.”

Increases in demand for child and youth mental health services as well as adapting service delivery due to pandemic restrictions and lockdowns saw New Path quickly shift to phone and virtual service delivery. This enabled children, youth, their families, and caregivers in Simcoe County to continue to access high-quality mental health services when and where they needed them during the pandemic. Since the loosening of pandemic restrictions, in-person services in addition to phone and virtual service options are available.

“We were incredibly nimble during the pandemic and seamlessly shifted the way we were able to provide support to our community. Demand for child and youth mental health services has never been higher for us and we want to continue to be resilient and ensure that our staff health and wellbeing is at its best,” says Jim Harris, New Path’s CEO. “Having healthy, thriving, and connected staff providing high-quality mental health services benefits everyone, including the children, youth and families we serve.”

“I am continually impressed by the passion, dedication, and creativity of community service organizations, like New Path Youth & Family Services. I am equally proud the Government of Canada has supported their important work through the Community Services Recovery Fund. By investing in these organizations and their projects we can help to create a more just and equitable society, where everyone has opportunities to succeed. I look forward to seeing the positive impact of this investment in Simcoe County over the years to come,” says Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development.
