New Path Youth & Family Services (New Path) in collaboration with Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County (CFSSC) is pleased to announce the opening of a child and youth mental health Walk-in Clinic in Midland.

“This project is in response to overwhelming demand for timely child and youth mental health services in Midland,” says Lisa Hickling-Miller, Manager New Path Youth and Family Services. “We firmly believe that children, youth and their families need timely access to care in their own communities. The Walk-in Clinic is the initial intake for other short or long-term mental health supports within the community and ensure that children and youth get the help they need right away.”

The Midland Walk-in Clinic runs every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CFSSC location at 845 King Street, unit 4. There is no need to make an appointment for this service and there is no fee.

“Walk-in Clinics allow us to deliver immediate service to families when they most need it,” says Michelle Vennard, New Path Youth and Family Services Director of Service. “Research has shown the benefits of immediate support for individuals experiencing mental health issues and we are very excited to offer this support in Simcoe County.”

Walk-in Clinics provide free, single-session mental health counselling for children and youth up to age 18 and their families. If additional supports and services are needed, clients will be referred to other short and long term child and youth mental health supports in their communities.

“Walk-in clinics are effective, leading edge services that will help ensure all children, youth, and their families have timely access to the mental health supports they need,” says Glen Newby, New Path Youth and Family Services CEO. “New Path is the Lead Agency for Moving on Mental Health and we are continuing to re-define the child and youth mental health system in Simcoe County, making sure the most effective mental health services are available at the right time and in the right place for kids and families.”

The pilot project is taking place from now until the end of December 2018.
