Barrie Students Raise $1,500 For New Path Youth & Family Services in Musical Theatre Production

Students at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School, St. Marguerite D’Youville Elementary School, St. Monica’s Elementary School, and Monsignor Clair Catholic Elementary School in Barrie donation

Students at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School, St. Marguerite D’Youville Elementary School, St. Monica’s Elementary School, and Monsignor Clair Catholic Elementary School in Barrie raised $1,500 in support of New Path Youth & Family Services, the Lead Agency for child and youth mental health in Simcoe County. The students, ranging from grades 3 to 8, performed a musical theatre production about mental illness.

“Each year we donate to a charity that fits into the theme of the production and this year’s theme was mental health,” says Robert Vidler, Musical Writer and Producer, French and Music teacher at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School. “We were happy to do a donation to New Path as we all certainly appreciate what the organization does for those in need of some assistance.”
The production was held at Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School and is the fourth production that Vidler has written and directed to raise money for local charities.

“We are so thrilled that the students and staff at these school have chosen us as the recipient of this donation,” says Elizabeth McKeeman, New Path Youth & Family Services Chief Executive Officer. “It’s so important for our youth to continue to fight against the stigma associated with mental illness and talking about it is a great way to do that.”
