$4,000 Donation Supports Child And Youth Mental Health

Grant Thornton Foundation dontation

To help raise awareness of World Mental Health Day taking place on October 10th and to support child and youth mental health in Simcoe County, the Grant Thornton Foundation has donated $4,000 to New Path Youth and Family Services (New Path) a child and youth mental health agency that provides free and professional counselling services to children, youth and their families.

“This support from the Grant Thornton Foundation will make a huge impact in the lives of children, youth and their families across Simcoe County. We have many things that aren’t covered by our provincial funding and we always want to make sure that all children, youth and their families in our community have equitable access to the mental health services they need,” says Elizabeth McKeeman, CEO of New Path Youth and Family Services. “It is especially crucial now as we deal with the after effects of over two years of COVID and the huge increase in those seeking support for their mental wellness.”

World Mental Health Day raises awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizes support of mental health. New Path is a local mental health agency with many office locations across Simcoe County, in Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Cookstown, Collingwood and Orillia, as well as a satellite location in Midland, that provides professional, accredited and free mental health counselling to children and youth up to age 18 and their families. Appointments can be made online through the Quick Access Child and Youth Mental Health Clinic by visiting: www.newpath.ca/book-now/ Those who don’t have online access can call New Path at 705-725-7656 to book an appointment.

“Grant Thornton believes in working together to create a meaningful and sustainable impact on the communities in which we live and work,” says Wade Taylor, Managing Partner for Southern Ontario, Grant Thornton LLP. “We’re proud to support the important work New Path does to provide equitable access to mental health services to children and families across Simcoe County.”
