New Art Show in Reflections Gallery – June 1, 2016

We will be featuring the work of local artist Miriam Kalliomaki in Reflections Art Gallery at Barrie Common Roof, beginning Wednesday June 1st.  Her pieces are nature & wildlife based and she creates her pieces in pastels and ink.  The opening will be happening from 1-3:30 in Reflections Gallery (Meeting Room 1).  Refreshments will be served.

New Path Receives Donation from RBC

New Path Foundation was presented with a cheque in the amount of $50,000.00 this past Friday, May 8th at their offices in Collingwood.  The RBC Foundation made the contribution in support of its Children’s Mental Health Project which provides funding to mental health initiatives across the country.  Funds from this donation will be used to support New Path Youth and Family Services; specifically walk-in clinics for children and youth in the communities of Barrie, Orillia and Collingwood.

About RBC Foundation’s Children’s Mental Health Project
All kids should feel healthy inside and out. The RBC Children’s Mental Health Project has provided more than $20 million to organizations dedicated to helping kids and families get the programs and resources they need.

Lisa Kalfus has been a long time trailblazer for Youth Engagement and was instrumental in bringing Youth Engagement to New Path.  At an Award Ceremony in Toronto on November 24th, Lisa was presented with  The New Mentality’s Youth Engagement Excellence Award.  This award was presented to people who have made a significant contribution to the New Mentality and have been leaders in the field of Youth Engagement.  Lisa’s incredible committment to Youth Engagement has made a lasting impact on youth, communities, organizations and the Children’s Mental Health sector.  Congratulations Lisa!  We, at New Path, are very proud of you and everything you have done to move Youth Engagement forward.

Midland Men’s Group Press Release

Partner Abuse Response Services Program to Replace Men’s Group in Midland

Barrie, ON – October 2, 2014 – New Path Youth and Family Services and Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County are pleased to announce the launch of a Partner Abuse Response Services Program (PARS) in Midland. In 2015 men seeking services for domestic violence from Catholic Family Services will be invited to participate in the New Path PARS Program

Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County has been providing the Men’s Group, a group program for men who are abusive and/or controlling in their personal relationships, for over 15 years in the Midland community. The Men’s Group has assisted over 400 men in the North Simcoe community develop healthy relationship based on partnership and equality. This group program is being replaced by the PARS Program.

The New Path Partner Assault Response Services Program (PARS) is a Domestic Violence Court Initiative which delivers a specialized community-based group intervention to offenders who have been mandated by the court to attend the PARS Program in response to a criminal charge involving domestic violence.  The 12 session program, funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Ontario Victim Services, is a court-ordered sanction that provides offenders with an opportunity to examine their beliefs and attitudes towards domestic abuse and to learn non-abusive ways of resolving conflict. Funding is also provided to offer victims and/or current partners with safety planning, support and referrals to community resources, as well as information about the offender’s progress.

Glen Newby, CEO at New Path and Peter Nagora, Manager of the PARS Program, would like to “Thank Catholic Family Services for providing many years of quality service to men who have been abusive and/or controlling in their personal relationships.  The PARS Program is very pleased to have the opportunity to enhance our services in Midland.” New Path Youth and Family Services is a multi-service child and youth mental health center serving all of Simcoe County from 8  locations across the County.

Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County will continue to provide services in the Midland area through their Walk-In Counselling Clinics and Individual, Couple and Family Counselling. The counselling services are open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation or financial status, living or working in Simcoe County.
