Supporting your Child with Successful Transitions
Join us on Thursday, September 24th from 1-2 pm for a free parenting discussion.
In this free, 1 hour parent discussion group Catherine and Kathy will facilitate adult conversation around the topic of supporting children during times of transition.Transitions are a natural part of everyday life in the home setting and in the community. Children are expected to adjust to changes in schedules, people, peers, buildings and routines, and some struggle with increased anxiety and challenging behaviors during times of unpredictability.
Transitions can be some of the most frustrating times of the day for families, especially children. They rely on parents/caregivers to provide a sense of safety as their environment and activities change. When parents/caregivers provide as much stability and predictability as possible along with some intentional advance planning children will be better able to cope with life’s little and big transitions.
The focus of this session is setting children up for success while exploring strategies parents can implement efore the transition, During the transition, and After the transition.
