Glen Newby Scholarship Fund Created

A new scholarship fund has been created to help Simcoe County Youth with the cost of post-secondary education. The Glen Newby Scholarship Fund is a collaboration between New Path Foundation and New Path Youth & Family Services and was created to support the legacy and commitment of Glen Newby’s almost 5 decades of work in the child and youth mental health sector.

“This scholarship honours the legacy of the former CEO of New Path, Glen Newby, who was tireless in his advocacy for young people,” says James Thomson, President and CEO of New Path Foundation.  “Our commitment is to continue to build on this work by providing additional opportunities for youth to succeed in either their post-secondary or apprenticeship studies.”

Scholarship applications open on January 7th, 2020 and are available to any young person up to the age of 24 years residing in Simcoe County, entering into or continuing in post-secondary studies and/or apprenticeship programs. There are 3 scholarships available, one award of $2,500 and two awards of $1,250 each. More information and the application form are available at: www.newpathfoundation.org/scholarship

“We are very excited about this scholarship for the youth in our communities,” says, Elizabeth McKeeman, CEO of New Path Youth & Family Services. “Young people are our future so it’s important to support them as they transition into post-secondary.”
