Glen Newby Scholarship Announces 2022 Scholarship Recipients

Glen Newby Scholarship

Simcoe County – Three Simcoe County youth have been awarded Glen Newby Scholarships. Hailey Horner from Orillia was the stream one, $2,500 scholarship recipient. Ashley Cresnjovec from Barrie and Bennett Woods from Tiny were the stream two, $1,250 scholarship recipients.

The Glen Newby Scholarship Fund is a collaboration between New Path Foundation and New Path Youth & Family Services and was created to help Simcoe County Youth with the cost of post-secondary education. It also supports the legacy and commitment of Glen Newby’s almost five decades of work in the child and youth mental health sector.

“This scholarship, now in its third year, continues to honour the legacy of the former CEO of New Path, Glen Newby, who was an incredible advocate for young people,” says James Thomson, President and CEO of New Path Foundation.  “Our commitment is to continue building on Glen’s work by providing additional opportunities for youth to succeed in either their post-secondary or apprenticeship studies.”

The next round of scholarship applications open in January 2023 and are available to any young person up to the age of 24 years residing in Simcoe County, entering, or continuing in post-secondary studies and/or apprenticeship programs. There are three scholarships available, one award of $2,500 and two awards of $1,250 each. More information and the application form are available at: www.newpathfoundation.org/scholarship

“This has been an incredibly challenging time for youth, and we are so thrilled to be able to provide financial support to these deserving young people to help them reach their goal of attending post-secondary studies,” says, Elizabeth McKeeman, CEO of New Path Youth & Family Services.
