We would like to invite you to Build Momentum for Youth Mental Health: an information session geared towards youth, parents, educators, and anyone with an interest in or questions about youth mental health issues. Want to know about treatment options for depression, substance use or suicide? Want to know when and how to access services across Barrie, Orillia and Simcoe County? This event will provide you with access to organizations in our community, and cutting-edge research to answer your questions.
By attending this event, you will be able to talk to and receive information from services in our community. Our special guest, Dr. Ian Manion, will give an accessible and engaging introduction to research on youth mental health. Afterwards, you will hear a panel discussion to be moderated by Patrick Dion, former Board Vice Chair of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and featuring representatives from a selection of organizations that provide health, mental health and addictions care for youth in our community, including:
- New Path Youth and Family Services (lead agency for children/youth mental health in Simcoe)
- Royal Victoria Hospital (new Child and Youth Mental Health program)
- The Gilbert Centre (support for LGBTQ+ youth and families)
- The Aboriginal Health Circle in North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN
We invite you to join the conversation about youth depression, suicide, cannabis and other substance use, and start building momentum in our community for prevention and treatment!
