Specifically, this policy will apply to Agency Board Members, Staff and Volunteers, providing direction on the management of perquisites.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Definition<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A perquisite (or perk) refers to a privilege that is provided to an individual or to a group of individuals as a result of their employment or volunteer status with the Agency and is not generally available to others.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The following are items not considered perquisites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provision of collective agreements<\/li>\n<li>Items generally available on a non-discriminatory basis for all or most employees (e.g. Employee Assistance Programs or pension plans)<\/li>\n<li>Employment accommodations made for human rights and\/or accessibility considerations (e.g. special workstations, work hours, religious holidays)<\/li>\n<li>Expenses covered under an organization&rsquo;s rules on travel, meals and hospitality (established in accordance with the BPS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Perquisites which are not permitted:<\/p>\n<p>The following perquisites are not permitted under any circumstance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Club memberships for personal recreation or socializing purposes, such as fitness clubs, golf clubs or social clubs<\/li>\n<li>Seasons tickets to cultural or sporting events<\/li>\n<li>Clothing allowances not related to health and safety or special job requirements<\/li>\n<li>Access to private clinics (e.g. medical services outside those provided by the provincial health care system, or by the employer&rsquo;s group insured benefits plans)<\/li>\n<li>Professional advisory services for personal matters, such as tax or estate planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=\u00a0\u00bbpt-4&Prime;]<\/p>\n<h2>Authority for Approval<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Perquisites are allowable only in limited and exceptional circumstances where it is demonstrated to be a business related requirement for the executive performance of an individual&rsquo;s job.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Approvals for these types of perquisites must be obtained by the Chief Executive Officer, or the Agency Board of Directors where the perquisites apply to the Chief Executive Officer.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=\u00a0\u00bbpt-4&Prime;]<\/p>\n<h2>Reporting Allowable Perquisites Publicly<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Should an allowable perquisite exist, a summary identifying the type of perquisite and value will be disclosed in conjunction with the public sector salary disclosure on an annual basis.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<a class=\"underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/broader-public-sector-perquisites-directive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Broader Public Sector Perquisites Policy<\/a>[\/vc_column_text]\r\n<a id=\"\" class=\"btn btn-green\"  href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/NewPath-Perquisites-Policy-Aug-2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"  > Download our Perquisite Policy <\/a>[\/vc_column][vc_column offset=\u00a0\u00bbvc_col-md-4&Prime;
