Who is This Service For?

School-Based Prevention/Diversion is for youth aged 12-17 who attend Nantyr Shores Secondary School and who are at risk of becoming involved with the youth justice system.

Who Can Make a Referral?

  • Teachers and the administrative staff of Nantyr Shores Secondary School
  • South Simcoe Police
  • Youth over 12 years of age

How is a Referral Made?

A referral is filled out by school personnel, police or youth and forwarded to the School Based Diversion Worker.

What are the Services?

  • Peer mediation

  • Substance abuse counselling
  • Multi-Disciplinary Consultations
  • Referral to other services
  • Classroom presentations and workshops

Where is the Service Located?

Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Alcona Beach, Innisfil. In the summer services are available in the community where the student lives.

Is There a Cost for this Service?

No, this service is funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Youth Justice Division.
