Brief in Three Counselling Program

What need is addressed by the program?

This client-centered program is for children, youth and families who require greater support than what is provided in our Walk -In Clinic. Counselling will focus on the development of strategies to effectively cope with their presenting concerns.  A maximum of 3 sessions is offered within a 2 month time frame.

What will the program help me achieve?

This program will assist clients to:

  • Develop a greater understanding of their strengths and challenges related to their presenting concern
  • Learn new skills, behaviours and ways of thinking that can assist both children, youth and families in managing their emotions, behaviours and relationships.

What are the major service activities of the program?

The Brief in Three Program involves 2 major service activities as follows:

  1. An initial discussion regarding a goal you wish to accomplish
  2. Individual and/or family counselling

The program is offered by New Path in:

  • Alliston
  • Barrie
  • Bradford
  • Collingwood

How do I access this program?

Clients access this program by attending our Walk In Clinic. After participating in the Walk In Clinic, a referral to the Brief in Three Program is mutually agreed upon by the Walk In Clinician and the Client.

Who provides service in this program?

Counselling is provided by a Brief Counsellor.

Is there a cost for this program?

No, this service is funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
