Blind – Low Vision Program

Who is This Service For?

In partnership with the  Blind – Low Vision (BLV) program through Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, family supports are offered through New Path Youth & Family Counselling Services to families of children aged birth to Grade One entry, who have a diagnosed visual impairment.  The worker and the Early Childhood Vision Consultant work closely together to help the children and families achieve their optimal potential.

How is a Referral Made?

  • Referrals are made through the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Blind-Low Vision Program     

What Services are Available?

  • Counselling supports are available to families of children identified with a diagnosed visual impairment to help with the process of accepting the visual impairment and dealing with its implications.  The worker can provide counselling to families, investigate funding options for families needing financial support for assistive devices, and help families to connect with other local services that can help to monitor and encourage their child’s development.
